David Bell

Managing Director, Conflicts/new Business at Morrison & Foerster

David Bell has a diverse work experience in the legal field. David started their career as a Law Clerk at the State Bar of California from 1985 to 1988. David then worked as a Staff Attorney at the State Bar of California from 1988 to 1991, and later as a Staff Attorney IV from 1991 to 1996. During this time, they also served as the Director of Professional Responsibility from 1991 to 1996.

In 1996, David became the Director of Professional Competence at the State Bar of California, where they managed attorney competence programs and served as a staff attorney to the Ethics Committee and Rules Revision Commission. David held this position until 1999.

From 1999 to 2001, David worked as a Partner at Langford & Bell LLP, where they represented and advised lawyers on professional responsibility, legal ethics, fee, and disciplinary matters. David also served as an expert witness on conflict of interest and practice of law issues.

Most recently, David has been with Morrison & Foerster LLP since 2007. David started as the Director of Conflicts Management and eventually became the Managing Director of the firm-wide Conflicts/New Business department. David also serves as the in-house Conflicts Counsel to the firm. David has been in this role since March 2021.

David Bell has a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings). David also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Comparative Literature, which they obtained with Magna Cum Laude honors from the University of Redlands. Additionally, David Bell is a member of the State Bar of California.
