Stephen Sayfritz

Stephen Sayfritz has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Stephen currently holds the position of VP Battery Materials at Morrow Batteries, where they are responsible for strategic partnerships, sourcing, procurement, and logistics. Stephen also develops the company's battery materials and recycling strategy and establishes strategic partnerships related to battery materials.

Prior to their current role, Stephen worked as a Research Manager at Eyde Cluster from 2019 to 2021. During their tenure, they developed and led joint research initiatives, such as the large-scale battery initiative at UiA and the BATMAN research project. Stephen also founded Battery Norway, a national industrial collaboration platform focused on innovation and sustainable value creation opportunities. Additionally, they established Agder Batteri, an innovation arena for growth companies in the battery and energy system segments in Agder.

From 2016 to 2019, Stephen served as a Senior Researcher at Norsk institutt for vannforskning (NIVA). In this role, they were responsible for building sensor-based monitoring into a new growth area for the organization. Stephen also led several multi-client projects and represented NIVA in two EU projects. Additionally, they played a significant role in project development, meetings, and reporting.

Stephen's work experience also includes a role as a Project Leader at Eyde Cluster from 2018 to 2019, where they focused on creating new value based on global circular material streams, with a particular emphasis on lithium-ion batteries and sustainable end-of-life management.

Before joining Eyde Cluster, Stephen worked as a Business Unit Manager at Eurofins Norway from 2014 to 2016, overseeing production, finance, and growth for Eurofins Kristiansand. Stephen also managed Eurofins Norge's online store during this time.

Earlier in their career, Stephen held positions such as Assistant Director at The National IOR Centre of Norway, Research Scientist at Institute for Energy Technology, Department Engineer at Norwegian School of Veterinary Science, Analytical Chemist at Amdel, and Analytical Chemist and Polymer Characterization Chemist at Smithers Rapra Ltd. In these roles, they gained expertise in areas such as research, project management, analytical methods development, and chemical analysis.

Stephen Sayfritz completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry with Analytical Chemistry and Toxicology from the University of Hull. Stephen attended the University from 1997 to 2000. Later, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Oslo (UiO), completing it from 2005 to 2007.
