Carol Cheung

Carol Cheung has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and robotics. Carol currently works as a Software Engineer at MORSE Corp since September 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Vive Benefits as a Software Engineer from August 2020 to August 2021. Before that, they held a Software Engineer position at Lavaseats from May 2019 to June 2020.

Carol also has experience as an intern at SRI International where they developed semantic costmap and pointcloud ROS nodes using SegNet labels and Gazebo simulated data. Carol Dockerized pre-existing sensor and robotics software packages during their internship.

Their earlier experience includes working at iRobot as a Research Deputy Program Manager from October 2005 to June 2010. Carol was responsible for leading and managing research projects, collaborating on architecture and algorithm design for UAVs and UGVs, and developing vision-based algorithms for Automatic Target Recognition and Pedestrian Detection.

Before iRobot, Carol worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory as an Associate Staff member. Carol was involved in various projects related to Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense and MDA & Project Hercules Testbed programs. Their work included leading teams, conducting studies, developing tracking algorithms, and analyzing data using tools such as Matlab and Satellite Tool Kit.

Carol Cheung has a strong educational background in the field of Aeronautics/Astronautics and Computer Science. Carol completed their Bachelor of Science (S.B.) degree in Aeronautics/Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1998. Carol then pursued further education at the same institution, obtaining a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in the same field from 1998 to 2000. In more recent years, Carol attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from 2017 to 2020.
