Josh Slocum is a Senior Scientist at Mosaic Biosciences. Prior to that, they were a Research Associate at the University of Colorado Boulder from July 2017 to September 2019. Before that, they were a Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin from August 2012 to June 2017, where they helped 18 students perform various experiments related to thermodynamics and was responsible for grading lab reports. Josh was also a Lab Researcher at LA-SiGMA REU from May 2011 to August 2011, where they performed electronic structure calculations on clusters of iron oxides in order to parameterize a reactive force field for metal oxides. Additionally, they were a Lab Researcher at Ho Chi Minh City University of Science from June 2010 to August 2010, where they worked in a green chemistry lab, collecting samples of food waste. Josh optimized a procedure for extracting grease from the waste, and started trials on converting the grease to diesel fuel. Their first position was as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Louisiana Tech University from January 2010 to May 2010.

Josh Slocum was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin. Josh also holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Louisiana Tech University.
