John Mackay

John is a co-founder, Executive Chairman and Director of Mosaic Capital Corporation. He has over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur taking his first company public in 1988. For 11 years, he practiced law, as a Partner at McCarthy Tetrault LLP in the Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions group, where he was involved with over $1 billion worth of transactions. Over the past 15 years John has been involved in starting, acquiring and running many successful private and public companies in a wide variety of businesses, in both domestic and international markets. John’s involvement in these businesses include corporate finance, strategic development, business plan execution, M&A execution and litigation.

John is past Chair of the Securities Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association and is a past member of the Securities Advisory Committee to the Alberta Securities Commission. He received a Bachelor of Law (Honours) from the University of Durham in the United Kingdom in 1993 and has been a member of the Law Society of Alberta since 1994.

John is an advisor to the founder and executive director of Branch Out Neurological Foundation, an innovative and high growth foundation which provides grants to researchers at Canadian universities who are accelerating research into both technology based and non-pharmacological therapies for neurological disorders.
