Asfandyar Qureshi has a strong background in software engineering, with experience in major tech companies. Asfandyar began their career at Google in 2010, where they worked as a Senior Software Engineer in the Datacenter Software division. Their responsibilities included machine power and failure modeling, as well as building services for critical infrastructure like Borg. Asfandyar also participated in various research projects. In 2015, they transitioned to the Consumer Surveys team at Google, taking on the role of Staff Software Engineer. Here, they led the technical direction of the data analytics infrastructure and implemented a migration from App Engine to a streaming data platform, significantly improving latency metrics. In 2018, Asfandyar joined YouTube as a Staff Software Engineer, focusing on recommendations. Asfandyar played a crucial role in building backend services and product features, as well as optimizing recommendation models. Most recently, they joined MosaicML in 2023 as a Principal Engineer and is currently working at Databricks as a Software Engineer.
Asfandyar Qureshi obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2004. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from the same institution, completing it in 2010.
