Giorgos Mamakoukas

Giorgos Mamakoukas, Ph.D., is a Senior Machine Learning and Controls Scientist at Motional, recognized for developing solutions that enhance safety and motion tracking accuracy in autonomous robotaxi rides with Lyft and Uber. Prior to this role, Giorgos served as a Machine Learning and Controls Research Scientist at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, where significant advancements in real-time model-predictive control for unknown dynamics were achieved. An accomplished robotics researcher at Northwestern University, Giorgos focused on data-efficient learning and real-time control, contributing to multiple projects that improved computational efficiency and enhanced safety in robotic applications. Giorgos holds a Ph.D. and an MS in Robotics from Northwestern University, along with a BA in Physics from Grinnell College, complemented by a history of leadership and innovation across various academic and research platforms.
