Peter Hiom joined Motive Partners in 2021 and is an Industry Partner based out of Sydney, Australia. At Motive, Peter sources and executes investment opportunities and focuses on strategy and growth for Motive portfolio companies, through his deep understanding of market structure, business processes, product development, distribution, and the application of technology in capital markets.
Prior to joining Motive, Peter was Deputy Chief Executive Officer of ASX (Australian Securities Exchange), where he was responsible for the development of all ASX businesses: Listings and Issuer Services, Trading Services, Derivatives and OTC Markets, and Equity Post-Trade Services – including ASX's development of distributed ledger technology to replace its cash equities clearing and settlement system, CHESS. Peter joined ASX in 2006 following the merger of the Australian Stock Exchange and SFE Corporation and was previously responsible for the business development of the Sydney Futures Exchange and Austraclear. In his role at ASX, Peter was a Non-Executive Director of Yieldbroker, Australia’s leading electronic fixed income trading platform, and of Digital Asset, a New York-based global leader in the provision of distributed ledger technology to regulated financial institutions. Peter was also a Committee Member of the Australian Federal Government’s National Blockchain Roadmap Steering Committee.
Prior to moving to Australia, Peter worked for the London International Financial Futures Exchange, where he held several management roles within the Business Development and Information Technology divisions.
