Glenn Lyons is the President of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT), having also served as Vice President since June 2023. With a career spanning over two decades at the University of the West of England, Bristol, Glenn currently holds the position of Mott MacDonald Professor of Future Mobility while previously being the Professor of Transport and Society and Associate Dean for Research and Enterprise. Glenn began as a graduate civil engineer and completed a PhD focused on modelling driver behavior using artificial intelligence. Glenn's expertise extends to advisory roles, including membership in the Department for Transport’s Capital Review Panel and Joint Analysis Development Panel, as well as a trustee position for the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund. Previous experiences include serving as Strategy Director for the Ministry of Transport in New Zealand and a Research Lecturer in Transport Planning at the University of Southampton. Educational qualifications include a BEng in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Driver Behaviour and Artificial Intelligence from Cardiff University.
