Patrick MacRae serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Mount Desert Island Land & Garden Preserve, overseeing an impressive array of historic gardens and natural landscapes in Maine. Previously, Patrick held the position of Doolittle Family Director of Gardens and Horticulture at The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, focusing on enhancing the museum's botanical collections. As the Director of Public Programs and Education for The Garden Conservancy, Patrick managed educational initiatives aimed at promoting America's gardening traditions. An alumnus of the Longwood Gardens Fellows Program, Patrick developed essential leadership skills in public horticulture. Early career experience includes a Research Manager role at Cornell University, where oversight of grant-funded research projects was a key responsibility, along with work as a Seasonal Keeper at Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, developing public educational programs. Patrick holds a Master of Professional Studies in Horticultural Science and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from Cornell University.
