Matt Harbaugh

Matt Harbaugh is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in venture capital, technology commercialization, and innovation management. Currently serving as the Managing Director and co-founder of Mountain State Capital since June 2016, Harbaugh also holds the position of Executive Director at the U.S. Research Impact Alliance, a nonprofit focused on accelerating technology commercialization. Previously, at West Virginia University, Harbaugh led innovation and transformation initiatives as the AVP of Transformation. Harbaugh has a notable background as CEO of Mobile Technologies LLC, where innovative speech recognition systems were developed, and as Chief Investment Officer at Innovation Works, overseeing investments in over 100 technology firms. Early career experience includes advisory roles at PNC Capital Markets. Harbaugh holds a JD from The George Washington University Law School, an MBA in Finance from The George Washington University School of Business, and a BA in Philosophy and Public Policy from Duke University.
