Emily Wang Fairbairn

Emily is the Chair of the Board at Movano. She has spent the majority of her career in executive leadership and management positions and as a seasoned investor and mentor to a variety of startups. She was co-founder and CEO of a multi-billion-dollar hedge fund, Ascend Capital, for nearly two decades before retiring in 2018. The firm focused on managing assets for institutional clients such as pensions, endowments, and public companies. Prior to Ascend Capital, Emily built a successful practice of equity portfolio construction and financial planning for high net worth clients for Merrill Lynch. Today, Emily is an active investor, serving on the funding board of MIT Sandbox Fund to mentor aspiring entrepreneurs, and is an engaged philanthropist with a history of supporting medical research, education, and athletics.
