John Mastrototaro is currently the CEO and Director of Movano. Prior to this, they were the Chief Operating Officer of OrthoSensor, Inc. from August 2017 to March 2021. John was responsible for product development, quality, regulatory affairs, and operations for an orthopedic company developing novel sensors and analytics to improve patient outcomes following surgical procedures. In January 2021, OrthoSensor was acquired by Stryker and John stayed on for 3 months to help facilitate integration.
From November 2011 to November 2013, John Mastrototaro was the Vice President of Research, Technology, and Business Development, and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Medtronic Diabetes. In this role, they led the Artificial Pancreas program, where the nighttime closed loop algorithm was developed. John also spearheaded the Global growth initiative to identify custom products for emerging markets. As a result of this initiative, two products were developed to fulfill new market needs. Lastly, John managed all Business Development activities for Medtronic Diabetes. This included making small company acquisitions and closing large partnership deals.
From January 2009 to December 2011, John Mastrototaro was the Vice President of Global Research and Development at Medtronic. In November 2013, they became the Vice President of Informatics at Medtronic plc, a position they held until January 2017.
John Mastrototaro has a BA from the College of the Holy Cross in Math and Physics and an MS and PhD in Biomedical engineering from Duke University.
