Ian Carmichael

Ian Carmichael is a seasoned technology executive with extensive experience in engineering leadership and software development. Currently serving as Senior Vice President for Firefox and Web at Mozilla since July 2023, Ian previously held the position of VP of Engineering at Meta from October 2017 to June 2023, where contributions included enhancing performance and reliability for mobile and web applications, as well as significant work on the Oculus Quest 2. Prior to this, Ian worked at Microsoft as General Manager of the .NET Platform for 18 years, focusing on core feature development and team success. Earlier experience includes roles at Cygnus Solutions, where contributions were made to the gcc tool chain for Sony PlayStation 2, and at IBM, where Ian worked on compiler tool chains for NPM Cobol and Visual Age C++. Ian holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science and a BSc.H in Mathematics and Computer Science, both from Queen's University.
