Robert Longson

Robert Longson has over 30 years of experience in the technology and software development sectors. Currently serving as a Volunteer Contributor at Mozilla since September 2005, Robert has made over 600 contributions to the Mozilla Firefox web browser, primarily focusing on SVG and serving as one of four SVG Peers responsible for reviewing contributions. Previously, Robert was an Engineering Lead at Lloyds Banking Group from March 2017 to June 2022, where collaboration with Product Owner counterparts led to the establishment of two labs employing around 70 people for application development. As a Consultant Developer at BJSS from April 2014 to March 2017, Robert successfully revitalized struggling programs, including leading the rearchitecture of a machine learning-based trading compliance system. Prior to that, Robert held positions at McGraw Hill Financial as Lead IT Developer/Development Manager and Senior IT Developer from January 2005 to March 2014, as well as Technical Manager at Logica UK and Software Developer at GEC Alsthom earlier in their career. Robert holds an MSc in Computing from The University of Manchester and a BSc in Mathematics and Physics from Durham University.
