Sharon Altmann, Ph.D., RBP, CBSP, SM(NRCM) is a seasoned scientist with extensive experience in biosafety, biosecurity, and virology. Currently serving as Capability Manager II and Senior Scientist at MRIGlobal since February 2013, Sharon coordinates international training programs and provides expertise for COVID-19-related operational planning for various academic, government, and NGO clients. Previous roles include Staff Scientist assisting DTRA-supported training in West Africa, and a Postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, where Sharon conducted significant research on drug efficacy against orthopoxviruses. Sharon's academic achievements include a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BA in Biology from Carleton College, alongside leadership experience as National Membership Secretary for Sigma Delta Epsilon.
