John M. Langhans

VP, Land Service Line Lead at MSA

John serves as vice president and Land service line lead for the firm. Based in the Madison, Wisconsin, office he is responsible for the management of eight teams dedicated to advancing the firm’s surveying, GIS, planning, land development, parks and recreation, urban design, landscape architecture, environmental, agricultural and building inspection services. Throughout his 20-year career, he has used his expertise to help municipalities plan, design and construct infrastructure systems that coincide with their specific sets of needs. Additionally, he has served in an advisory and leadership role for numerous communities as the engineer of record.

John has worked with many communities to solve problems across the gamut of municipal infrastructure. He has extensive experience with urban roadways and underground utilities, pedestrian and multi-modal facilities, stormwater and wastewater conveyance, water distribution, trenchless pipeline rehabilitation, capital improvement planning and public involvement.

John is a proven project leader who understands the importance of stakeholder collaboration and communication. He has led diverse teams for equally diverse clients—focusing on effective project management and timely communication to allow all project stakeholders to have successful outcomes.

A licensed professional engineer in Wisconsin, John earned his degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. His memberships include the American Public Works Association and the Central States Water Environment Association.
