Tracy S. Woodrow serves as Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for M&T Bank. She is also a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team.
As CAO, Woodrow oversees M&T’s Banking Services, Buffalo Promise Neighborhood (BPN), Corporate Services, Human Resources, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) teams. As interim CHRO, she also leads staffing, recruiting, leadership development, compensation, benefits and employee relations for the enterprise, which includes more than 22,000 employees across the northeastern U.S.
Woodrow is responsible for leading M&T’s culture of diversity and inclusion, alongside M&T’s Chief Diversity Officer. This includes helping drive the company’s focus on racial equity in senior management through hiring, development, promotion and sponsorship. She is also a member of M&T’s Diversity & Inclusion Council, which works to spearhead efforts that enable M&T to meet the needs of its diverse employees, customers and communities.
Deeply committed to improving the lives of others, she also personally mentors and sponsors M&T employees and serves as the executive sponsor of M&T’s Native American Employee Resource Group.
Woodrow joined M&T in 2013 as Bank Secrecy Act Officer, responsible for overseeing the enterprise-wide anti-money laundering program. In 2018, she was invited to testify before a U.S. Senate sub-committee to help U.S. banks better fight terrorism and money laundering. Prior to joining M&T, she worked as in-house counsel and a senior compliance leader with HSBC Bank USA, NA, focusing on commercial, anti-money laundering and employment law matters.
She graduated from Boston College Law School and the State University of New York at Albany. As a champion of learning and development, Woodrow serves as a board member of Buffalo Prep, an organization which advocates for educational access and equity, and provides programming to academically ambitious scholars of color. In addition, she serves on the board of directors of the Westminster Foundation, which provides a range of educational and family support services on the East Side of Buffalo. She is also a 2019 graduate of Leadership Buffalo.
