Kai Dwyer

Kai Dwyer is an experienced educational leader currently serving as Principal at Mt. Diablo Unified School District since July 2025. Prior roles include Director of Secondary Education at San Lorenzo Unified School District, where significant achievements included advocating for a Latinx Studies dual enrollment course, managing instructional material adoption, and implementing reading and math interventions for middle school students. Dwyer previously served as Principal at Alameda Unified School District, where impactful initiatives involved launching a Black Student Union and hosting engagement events for families. Additional experience encompasses roles as Dean of Student Support, School Counselor, and positions in various educational organizations including the Center for Nonprofit Advancement and the Center for Inspired Teaching. Dwyer holds a Master of Science in School Counseling from San Francisco State University and advanced degrees in African American Studies and Television Production.
