Mt. Kilimanjaro Child Development Programme (MKCDP) is a child-centered community development organization established in 1976 and formally registered as a Civil Society Organization (CSO) in 2017. The organization is based in Kajiado South, Kenya, at the foothills of Africa’s tallest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and borders both Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks—an area rich in culture, biodiversity, and natural heritage.

MKCDP works with children, families, and communities to break cycles of poverty through holistic and sustainable interventions. Supported by ChildFund International and other partners, it implements programs in education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation, livelihoods, and child protection. With strong governance and financial systems overseen by a Board of Directors and certified auditors, MKCDP ensures transparency and accountability in all operations.

Through innovative projects such as school-based agriculture, water systems, and youth empowerment, MKCDP impacts thousands annually and envisions “communities where children thrive and reach their full potential.”
