Susan Janiszewski has extensive work experience in research and academia. Susan is currently the Director of Michigan Tech Research Institute, where they also hold the position of Senior Research Scientist. Previously, they served as a Research Assistant Professor and Deputy Director at Michigan Technological University. Susan has also worked as a Computational Sciences Group Lead and Research Engineer/Scientist II at the university. Prior to joining Michigan Tech, Susan worked as a Data Scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton and as a Technical Analyst at Consumers Energy. Susan also served as an Applied Research Mathematician at the United States Department of Defense. Susan's early career included roles as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at Emory University and the University of Vermont. At DTE Energy, they interned as part of the Load Research Department, where they modeled power consumption and presented results to the Midwest ISO Demand Response Working Group.
Susan Janiszewski earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Chemistry with a minor in Spanish from Michigan Technological University in 2006. Susan then pursued a Master of Science degree in Mathematics at the University of Vermont from 2006 to 2008. Later, they attended Emory University, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from 2008 to 2011, followed by a PhD in Mathematics from 2008 to 2012.
