Timothy Havens

Director, Great Lakes Research Center at Michigan Technological University

Timothy Havens has a diverse work experience spanning different universities and organizations. Timothy currently holds the positions of Director of the Great Lakes Research Center and Professor at Michigan Technological University. Timothy has also served as the Director of the Institute for Computing and Cybersystems, Director of the ICC Center for Data Sciences, Associate Dean for Research in the College of Computing, and Executive Director of Data Sciences at Michigan Technological University. Prior to their current roles, they worked as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the same university. Before joining Michigan Technological University, they were an NSF/CRA Computing Innovation Fellow at Michigan State University. Timothy also has experience as a Graduate Research Assistant and Teaching Fellow at the University of Missouri, where they worked on various research projects related to technology and eldercare. Early in their career, they worked as an Associate Technical Staff at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, where they conducted systems analyses for national defense problems and designed experiments to measure the performance of GPS receivers.

Timothy Havens earned a Ph.D in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia between 2005 and 2010. Prior to that, they obtained an M.S in electrical engineering from Michigan Technological University from 1999 to 2000, and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the same university from 1994 to 1999.
