Walter Milligan

Walter Milligan is an accomplished academic and professional in the field of materials science and engineering. Currently serving as the Department Chair and Professor at Michigan Technological University since August 1989, Milligan has held various leadership roles, including Interim Department Chair and Chief Information Officer. Experience also includes serving as Secretary/Statistician for the Central Upper Peninsula Hockey League since 2004, a Visiting Professor at NTNU from 2001 to 2002, and a Post-Doc at CEA from 1988 to 1989. Early career internships at NASA Glenn Research Center, Carpenter Technology, and GE Aviation provided foundational industry experience. Milligan holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Materials Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
