Barbara Knight is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in human resources and education. Currently serving as a Nursery Specialist at Dearness Gardens since March 2020, Barbara has also been a Field Education Instructor at Muddy Sneakers and a Great Outdoors University Field Trip Leader with the NC Wildlife Federation since 2017 and June 2015, respectively. Previous roles include ten years as DVP of HR Store Operations at Family Dollar, where oversight included HR support for numerous executives and store operations. Barbara's career began at CVS Pharmacy, where various positions spanned from HR Generalist to Logistics Returns Manager. Barbara holds a Bachelor's degree in History from Boise State University, earned between 1984 and 1988.

Muddy Sneakers
The mission of Muddy Sneakers is to awaken in children a deeply felt connection with the natural world -- one that inspires curiosity, stimulates learning and brings new life to classroom performance. Muddy Sneakers partners with public schools to take 5th-grade students to natural areas near their schools, to work in small groups in the outdoors with trained naturalist educators to teach their science curriculum and help students connect to nature.
