Mundialito was founded in 2015 to raise college scholarship funds for high school student-athletes. Over the years, we have been able to award $2,500 in scholarships to student-athletes from Central Falls High School and Blackstone Academy, and, every year, we expand on this mission. Our scholarship winners are from diverse backgrounds, ranging from the first-time higher ed-bound high school graduate to the All-Academic award-winning athletes. For the past few years, we have partnered with local high schools to provide students with the opportunity to volunteer for the tournament and block party, allowing them to earn community service hours required for their graduation. This year, we are planning to expand on that opportunity and encourage high school students interested in completing a free-of-charge referee training program that will allow them to officiate in the tournament.

To raise these funds, Mundialito hosts a futsal tournament and block party that brings together children, youth, and families from various cities around Rhode Island and nearby cities like Boston, Fall River, and Hartford. Additionally, the Mundialito seeks to actively support local businesses and organizations by providing them the opportunity to serve as vendors throughout the league and at the block party. The common denominator that these groups have is their love of soccer and friendly competition, all while being able to support high school student-athletes. Last but not least, one of our favorite parts about the Mundialito is that we can celebrate different cultures by having the teams represent their country of choice. 

Since 2015, Mundialito has served this community of students, families, local businesses, and organizations. It would not be possible to get this far without their support. The tournament has grown from a one-day six-team tournament to an 8-wk 16-team tournament that culminates with a block party. Mundialito strives to serve soccer players, fans and the community.
