Lead NTS Athletic Development Coach - Limerick at Munster Rugby

James O'Leary has a diverse work experience in the field of sports performance and strength and conditioning. James started their career in 2016 as a Coach with Monaleen GAA and also worked as a Personal Trainer at Bansha Gym and Physiotherapy Clinic. In 2017, they joined Limerick GAA as the U-21 Football Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and later became the Head of Athletic Performance at Limerick GAA Football Academy. James also worked with Munster Rugby as the Munster Rugby Age Grade S&C Coach and later became the Lead NTS Athletic Development Coach in Limerick. Additionally, they served as the Munster Rugby 1st Team Sports Scientist. In 2019, they took on the role of Manager for LIT Senior & Fresher Football at Limerick Institute of Technology. James also has experience as the Head of Strength and Conditioning for Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football. Currently, they are associated with Munster Rugby and the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) as the Lead NTS Athletic Development Coach and Ireland u18s S&C respectively.

James O'Leary completed their education at multiple institutions over the years. James started their academic journey in 2000 at Abbey CBS in Tipperary Town, where they pursued an undisclosed degree until 2006. In 2006-2007, they attended Cholaiste Chiarain in Croom, Co. Limerick, where they obtained a FETAC Certificate in Sport and Recreation.

James then enrolled at the University of Limerick and graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Sport and Exercise Science. During their time at the university, they specialized in personal training through the NCEF program in 2012. Additionally, in 2007-2008, they pursued the NCEF in Exercise and Health Fitness.

In terms of certifications, James completed various courses to augment their knowledge and expertise. James obtained the Strength and Conditioning Level 1 certification from World Rugby in October 2014. In July 2016, they obtained the Certified Conditioning Course certification from the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU). Furthermore, they hold the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), although specific details such as the obtained month and year are not provided.
