Jamel Oubechou currently serves as Directeur de cabinet at the Musée national des arts asiatiques - Guimet since March 2023. Prior to this role, Jamel held various positions at the Ministère de l'Europe et des Affaires étrangères from 2015 to August 2022, including Conseiller de coopération et d’action culturelle en Egypte and Conseiller de Coopération et d'Action culturelle en Iran. Jamel also worked as a conseiller to Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, the Minister for Women's Rights, City, Youth, and Sports, in 2014. From 2010 to April 2014, Jamel served as Directeur de la Promotion des Droits et de l'Egalité at the Haute Autorité de Lutte Contre les Discriminations et pour l'Egalité/Défenseur des Droits, an institution succeeding Halde in 2011. Additionally, Jamel was DG Adjoint aux Relations internationales at the Mairie de Paris from November 2008 to October 2010. Jamel Oubechou's educational background includes a degree in Service public from Sciences Po (1991 - 1994) with honors and an agrégation in the English-speaking world from the Ecole normale supérieure de Lettres et Sciences humaines (1988 - 1993).
