Aurora van Zoelen Cortés

Manager, Foundation Partnerships at MUSEUM ASSOCIATES

Aurora van Zoelen Cortés has a diverse work experience in the art museum industry. Aurora started their career at the Centre Pompidou as an intern at the Bibliothèque Kandinsky in 2013. In 2017, they joined the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) as a Curatorial Administrator for the Art of the Ancient Americas department. In this role, they supported curators and fellows in research and exhibition development, managed public programs and bilingual publications, handled data organization and budget tracking, and collaborated with colleagues and external partners. Later, they became a Coordinator in the Foundation Partnerships department, responsible for managing donor relationships and overseeing gift processing, proposal writing, and reporting. Currently, Aurora is serving as the Manager of Foundation Partnerships at LACMA.

Aurora van Zoelen Cortés completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Painting / Sculpture from Paris College of Art in the years 2011 to 2015. During their BFA, they also participated in a semester abroad program at RMIT University in 2014. In terms of their secondary education, Aurora attended The American School Foundation of Guadalajara until 2011, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned. Later on, they pursued a Master's degree in Art History at Arizona State University from 2019 to 2022. In addition to their formal education, Aurora obtained a certification in Principles & Techniques of Fundraising from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in May 2022.
