Giorgio Carlevaro has extensive experience in the art preparation and installation field. Giorgio began their career in 1998 with the Los Angeles Department of Culture Affairs, where they worked as an Art Preparator until 2008. During this time, they were responsible for tasks such as safe installation, display, packing, and transport of art objects. Giorgio also had proficient knowledge and experience with hand-held tools, power tools, tall ladders, and motorized lifts.
In 2003, Carlevaro joined the UCLA Hammer Art Museum as an Art Preparator. In this role, they assisted with daily operations, including the quick and safe packing and unpacking of artworks for viewings, inspection, and installations. Giorgio also efficiently installed individual artworks and exhibitions in the contemporary art gallery and the permanent collection gallery.
Carlevaro then worked at The Broad Art Foundation from 2004 to 2013, where they held multiple roles. As the Head of Video Installations & Art Preparator, they were responsible for planning and installing flat screens, projectors, sound systems, and related equipment. Giorgio also coordinated requirements with artists and other support staff. Carlevaro also worked as an AudioVisual Systems Infrastructure Design Consultant during this time.
In 2006, Carlevaro joined the Santa Monica Museum of Art as the Chief of Art Installations. In this position, they were involved in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling the work of the Preparation department. Giorgio also worked closely with curators, artists, conservators, and other museum staff to produce and coordinate exhibitions and install artworks in the galleries.
Carlevaro's experience continued at the Los Angeles World Airports, where they served as the Art Installation Supervisor from 2011 to 2013. Giorgio then worked at the Annenberg Space for Photography as an Art handling & Lighting Preparator in 2012 and Los Angeles County Museum of Art as a Senior Art Preparator starting in 2007.
Throughout their career, Carlevaro has demonstrated a strong ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, possess excellent technical skills related to art installation and handling, and successfully manage and supervise teams.
Giorgio Carlevaro attended the London Film School and pursued a degree in Art and Film.
