Ty Powers, CFA, currently serves as the Director of Asset Allocation at Investors Trust Company since February 2022 and is an active Board Member for both the Museum of Durham History and Volunteers for Youth, Inc. since June and February 2023, respectively. Prior experience includes serving as a Portfolio Manager - Credit, Inflation, and Multi Strategy at the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer's Retirement Systems Division from October 2016 to February 2022, and a Portfolio Manager & Director of Hedge Fund Manager Research at Hatteras Funds from December 2008 to May 2016, managing multiple fund of hedge fund portfolios and developing hedge fund research processes. Earlier roles include Senior Analyst at Brightleaf Partners LP, Associate Analyst at BB&T Capital Markets, Summer Analyst at Keane Capital Management Inc, and Vice President in Private Wealth Management at Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. Ty Powers holds an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and a BA in Economics from Washington and Lee University.

The Museum of Durham History is a 21st-century museum that uses stories about people, places and things to foster curiosity, encourage further inquiry, and promote an understanding of diverse perspectives about the Durham community and its history. The museum is putting its mission into action through a personal approach to history that sets this museum apart: an innovative, community model that engages with history through stories—the personal memories, experiences and family lore of our shared heritage. The Museum of Durham History makes the stories of Durham's past available to the local community and its visitors and encourages people to appreciate the captivating richness of Durham's history.
