Karen Schiff

Core Fellow, Criticism at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Karen Schiff is currently a Core Fellow in criticism at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, where the focus is on reinterpretations of Picasso’s “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.” As a member of the INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ART CRITICS AMERICAN SECTION since 2013 and a freelance editor and consultant since 1991, Schiff has worked on various academic projects, including editing a monograph about artist James Howell. Additionally, Schiff has extensive teaching experience, having served as an instructor at the Rhode Island School of Design and Parsons School of Design, among others. Schiff holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature & Literary Theory from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.F.A. in Studio Art from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and degrees from Brown University in Comparative Literature and English.
