Scott Gwinnell

Scott Gwinnell is an accomplished musician and educator with extensive experience in jazz education and performance. Currently serving as the Director and Creator of the Detroit Jazz Workshop since January 2009, Gwinnell also holds the position of Director of Vocal Jazz Education at the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, where partnerships with high schools are established to enhance vocal jazz education. As a Special Lecturer at Oakland University, Gwinnell directs Vocal Jazz Ensembles and instructs jazz piano, improvisation, arranging, and theory, while also being part of the Oakland University Faculty Jazz Quartet. Additional roles include Ensemble Director at Michigan State University Community School, and a history of freelance music performance since 1990. Previous academic appointments include Adjunct Professor at Bowling Green State University and Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Toledo. Gwinnell holds a Master's degree in Music from Wayne State University and a Bachelor's degree in Music from Western Michigan University.
