Kathleen Lavengood, PhD, is an accomplished music educator and performer with extensive experience in various educational and orchestral settings. Currently serving as Adjunct Music Faculty at George Fox University since August 2020, Kathleen teaches courses in World Music, String Techniques, Orchestral Coaching, and Studio Viola. Since August 2008, Kathleen has been a musician and teacher at Musika LLC, utilizing diverse teaching methodologies for students of all ages while also organizing notable events such as Miami's annual Musika Recital. Previous roles include Director of Strings at the Community School of the Arts and various violinist positions with orchestras such as the Fort Smith Symphony, Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic, and Miami Symphony Orchestra. Kathleen's educational background includes a PhD in Ethnomusicology from Indiana University Bloomington, complemented by master's and bachelor's degrees in music from the University of Nevada, Reno, and University of Oregon, respectively.
