Simon Horton has had a diverse range of work experience throughout their career. Most recently, they served as the Head of Software Development & Head of Data Services at MUSO. In this role, they worked closely with company founders and senior management to shape the product roadmap for MUSO's digital piracy services and datasets. Simon also led innovation in piracy data acquisition and big data processing algorithms. Prior to MUSO, Simon worked as the Lead Technical Architect at ShopIntegrator, where they provided SMEs with secure and easy-to-use hosted shopping cart software.
Earlier in their career, Simon worked as a Freelance Technical Lead at Mizuho International plc, where they served as the solutions architect and technical lead developer for the Securities Services and Custody Business department. Simon had full project life-cycle experience and worked with various stakeholders, including traders, business users, project sponsors, developers, auditors, and software vendors. Simon also gained experience as an Analyst Programmer at Deutsche Bank, an IT Consultant at NorthPoint Digital-EY, and an IT Consultant at Control Data Corporation.
Simon's career started as an Electronics Engineering Assistant to the Responsible Engineer at Matra Marconi Space during their undergraduate gap year. During this time, they assisted with the Inmarsat 3 satellite build program, which provided communication services to governments, aid agencies, media outlets, and businesses in remote regions.
Simon Horton attended the University of Birmingham from 1993 to 1997, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
