Mwangaza Light

Energy is one of the fundamental blocks of social economic development and access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030 is Goal 7 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. In East Africa today, most people are not on the grid but rely on kerosene for lighting and those on-grid often use kerosene due to low reliability of electricity. As more than 85% use biomass for cooking, East Africans suffer high cost of dirty fuels and toxic fumes that have negative impact on health, productivity, and the environment. Mwangaza Light is a clean energy distributor committed to reduce energy poverty for better welfare and to enhance energy efficiency for higher reliability. Our last mile distribution builds on partnership with faith-based organisations, the co-operative movement, and other like-minded partners to reach urban and rural populations. We enable religious leaders and other opinion makers to take on environmental stewardship for greater transition to clean energy and climate change mitigation. Mwangaza Light has created teams of operation in Kenya and Uganda. The Green Churches initiative is our flagship programme as it incorporates our extensive collaboration with faith-based partners into one business model.
