Lasse Folkersen

Lasse Folkersen has a notable work history in the field of genetics and medical sciences. Lasse currently holds the position of Chief Scientific Officer at Nucleus, starting in June 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as a Genetics expert and chief consultant at the Danish National Genome Center from August 2020 to June 2022.

Lasse also served as Lead Scientist at Region Hovedstadens Psykiatri from December 2017 to July 2020. Lasse Folkersen had a long tenure at Lundbeck, where they worked as a Scientific Advisor from December 2014 to July 2020.

Before entering the industry, they worked at DTU - Technical University of Denmark, initially as a Post-doc from December 2014 to December 2015, and then as an Assistant Professor from December 2015 to November 2017. During this time, their responsibilities included teaching and researching genetics and medical sciences, as well as developing user-facing platforms for interpretation of genetic results.

Lasse Folkersen gained research experience as a Post-Doc at Novo Nordisk A/S from December 2012 to November 2014. Lasse also worked as a Post-doc at Karolinska Institutet from January 2012 to November 2012, focusing on using high-throughput transcriptomics to bridge the gap between genetics and medicine. Lasse'swork in this role included the utilization of biobanked gene expression data to identify mediator-genes in genome-wide association studies.

Lasse Folkersen completed their Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry at the University of Copenhagen from 2002 to 2005. Lasse then pursued further education and obtained their Master's degree in Human biology from the same university between 2005 and 2008. Afterward, Lasse enrolled at Karolinska Institutet from 2008 to 2011, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree with a focus on Cardiovascular Genomics and Transcriptomics.
