Dr. Julie Werner is an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist with expertise in brachial plexus and peripheral nerve conditions, hand and upper extremity rehabilitation across the lifespan, and pediatric hand therapy. She completed her PhD at the University of Southern California, investigating the neural underpinnings of sensorimotor systems involved in learning skilled hand actions. She is on the editorial board of Physical and Occupational Therapy in Pediatrics and a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists. Dr. Werner teaches graduate students in the occupational therapy department as well as orthotics and prosthetics program at California State University Dominguez Hills. She leads a team of occupational therapy hand specialists in the multidisciplinary Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Clinic at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Her research interests are in neurorehabilitation, upper extremity post-surgical rehabilitation, brachial plexus and peripheral nerve conditions, acute flaccid myelitis, and occupational therapy effectiveness research.
