Cory Retherford has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. In 1992, they worked as a Percussion Instructor for the Broad Ripple CPA Program. From 2000 to 2003, they held the position of Customer Services Support Lead at Indiana University Bloomington, where they supervised a team of computing consultants and provided technical support. Cory then worked as a Global Network Operations Center Engineer, overseeing networking infrastructure and connectivity at IU campuses and clients. From 2003 to 2011, Cory served as the Manager/Director of Information Security and Student Enrollment Technology Services at Indiana University, managing professional staff and leading technology implementations. Cory also founded and managed the Indiana University SharePoint Users Group. In 2013, Cory became the Product Manager and Architect for Enterprise Business Intelligence and Data Protection at IU, where they led the development of BI infrastructure and data access management systems. From 2014 to 2015, they served as the Lead Enterprise Decision Support, managing Microsoft DB services and Oracle Data warehouse. In 2015, Cory became the Lead Information Security Officer for UITS at Indiana University, implementing security policies and managing data integrity. Cory then worked at Spirion, starting as a Senior Solutions Engineer, providing technical solutions for data security. Cory later became the Principal Advisory Solutions Engineer, offering security and data privacy advisory, and finally the Director of Partner Enablement and Alliances, focusing on business plans and enabling partner adoption of services. Currently, Cory is the Head of Customer Experience at Myota, responsible for managing the customer experience strategy and overseeing sales and implementation processes.

Cory Retherford's education history begins in 1996 when they enrolled at Indiana University Bloomington. From 1996 to 2001, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics. During this time, they also obtained a Certificate in Underwater Resource Management from Indiana University Bloomington, completing the program from 1999 to 2001. In 2003, they completed their studies and earned a BS/BA degree in Underwater Archaeology from Indiana University Bloomington.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Cory Retherford has obtained several certifications. Some of these certifications include Infraguard Partnership for Protection from InfraGuard in October 2018, Taekwondo Association certification and United States Hapkido Federation certification both obtained in December 2014. They have also obtained Agile and SCRUM (Lean Agility) certification from Deema Dajani @ CA Technologies in April 2014, and ASP Tactical Baton Certification from ASP, INC (Armament Systems and Procedures) in February 2006. Cory's further certifications include Educause Institute Management Certification from EDUCAUSE in October 2005, PADI Instructor Development Candidate Staff Instructor from Professional Association of Diving Instructors in March 1996, and Pre-Basic Law Enforcement (LETB) Combat Firearms and Physical Tactics from LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING BOARD in February 2006.
