Danette Schweers

Field Medical Officer at My Pet's Vet

Danette Schweers has worked in the veterinary field since 1996. Danette began their career as an Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at California Animal Hospital. In 2000, they moved to Animal Emergency Room and worked as a Veterinarian providing emergency veterinary services including medicine and surgery, diagnostic testing and imaging, care and management of both outpatient and hospitalized pets with special interests in pain management, critical care, soft tissue surgery, and exotic pets. In 2014, they were appointed as the Director of Bexar County for the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA). In 2019, they were appointed as the Chief of Staff at My Pet's Vet and in 2022, they began working as a Field Medical Officer for the My Pet's Vet Group.

Danette Schweers obtained their Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Texas A&M University in 1996. Prior to that, they completed their studies in Animal Science at Texas State University between 1989 and 1992. In addition, they hold four certifications: Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) from the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (obtained in November 2016), Diplomate, ABVP (Canine and Feline Practice) from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (obtained in December 2013), AAHA Accreditation from AAHA (obtained in April 2009), and APHIS Category II Accredited Veterinarian from APHIS (obtained in 1996).
