Liam Flaherty has a diverse work experience in the field of software and firmware engineering. Liam started their career at the University of Adelaide as a Research Intern, where they focused on space-related university research and developed attitude determination algorithms. Liam also worked on the development of device drivers in firmware for satellite peripherals.
Following their internship, Liam joined NVIDIA as an ASIC Intern, where they contributed to the development of software automation tools for GPUs. Liam specialized in developing tools to estimate GPU chip sizes, enhancing the accuracy of component placements within the GPU.
Liam then moved on to the Adelaide University Motorsport Team, where they served as the Software and Electronics Engineering Lead. Liam played a critical role in designing the embedded vehicle control system software for the team's first electric vehicle. This involved overseeing the entire software development process, from conceptual design to implementation.
Afterward, Liam joined Boeing as a Software Engineering Intern and later as a Software/Firmware Engineer. In these roles, they contributed to the development of software for the E-7 Wedgetail advanced early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft. Liam worked on developing mission systems software, enhancing the existing codebase, and performing unit tests and regression tests for quality assurance.
After successfully working at Boeing, Liam joined Google as a Software Engineer. In this role, they focused on ChromeOS platforms, specifically firmware and new device bring-up. Liam collaborated closely with EE teams and board schematics to develop firmware for new device platforms. Liam also developed firmware in C for the ChromeOS embedded controller and CPU, controlling board power and configuring peripherals.
Currently, Liam works as an Embedded Software Engineer at Myriota, where they utilize their skills and expertise to contribute to the development of embedded software.
Liam Flaherty pursued their undergraduate education at the University of Adelaide from 2015 to 2019. During this period, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) with a specialization in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. Additionally, they also obtained a Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences with a major in Computer Science. The field of study for both degrees is unspecified.
