Battalion Chief Bissette began his fire service journey in 2000 as the first high school apprentice with Wilson Fire-Rescue. Upon high school graduation, Chief Bissette joined Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department in Lucama where he served several years. In 2004, he began as a career firefighter with Washington Fire-Rescue-EMS in Beaufort County. Through the years he continued up the ranks from firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief and Division Chief. In August 2020, Bissette came back to his hometown roots, Wilson Fire-Rescue, and is currently a Battalion Chief. He is an active volunteer on Pinetown Volunteer Fire Department and Pinetown Rescue-EMS.
Chief Bissette is the Past President for the Eastern Carolina Firefighters Association. He enjoys conducting live fire training throughout Eastern North Carolina.
He has an Associate’s Degree in Fire Protection Technology from Wilson Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Services Administration from Fayetteville State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Columbia Southern University. He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program. He is also credentialed as a Chief Fire Officer from Center for Public Safety Excellence. He is a graduate of the North Carolina Association of Fire Chief’s Executive Development Program.
