Mike Arvela

Mike Arvela has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Mike is currently working at n8n as the Engineering Lead, Cloud Platform. Prior to that, they worked as a Cloud Engineer at the same company. In 2020, Mike worked as a Freelance Web Developer for Supercollider, where they contracted for startups and utilized technologies such as Typescript, Node.js, React, Go, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, GCP & k8s, and Heroku.

From 2021 to 2022, Mike was the Head of Engineering at Positive Learning Ltd, an EdTech startup. Mike worked hands-on as an engineering team lead and used technologies such as Go, Typescript, React, Postgres, Heroku, and Kubernetes.

In 2020, Mike worked as a Full Stack Engineer at Linear, a remote team that developed an issue tracking app. Mike worked on various features and integrations, including Webhooks, GitLab, Sentry, Stripe payments, and the Electron desktop app.

Prior to their roles at n8n and Supercollider, Mike worked at HERE Technologies as a Lead Software Engineer for frontend development. Mike also had several roles at Futurice, including Director of People & Culture, Technology Director, Lead Web Developer, and Senior Software Developer. Mike contributed to various technological projects, focusing on recruitment, team leadership, technology vision, and web and mobile application development.

In addition to their software roles, Mike also worked as a Vocalist for BAD finance and was a Co-founder of Alupark Oy, a company that started as a software outlet and later became a consultancy.

Early in their career, Mike gained experience as a Software Developer at Ambientia, where they built enterprise B2B applications using Java technology stacks. Mike also worked as a Web Developer and Clerk at Gamelife, where they developed a customized web store for video games and entertainment.

Throughout their work experience, Mike has showcased their skills in various technologies and demonstrated leadership and hands-on expertise in software development.

Mike Arvela has a strong background in computer science and interactive technology. Mike obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Interactive Technology from the University of Tampere from 2003 to 2007. Mike further pursued their education and completed their Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the same university from 2007 to 2010.

In addition to their formal education, Mike Arvela has also earned certifications in the field. Mike obtained the Sun Certified Java Programmer certification in Java 5.0 from Sun Microsystems in 2008. Mike also obtained the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in October 2020.
