Dr. Dieter J. Braun began his professional career in September 1980 after studying inorganic chemistry and completing his doctorate as an application engineer for aluminum hydroxide at VAW aluminum AG, where he became head of sales for the special oxides division based in Schwandorf in 1987 and in 1988 headed the special oxides division was entrusted. After completing an Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, he was appointed Managing Director of VAW motor GmbH in 1992. In 1996 he became general manager of VAW aluminum AG and in 1997 a member of the board with responsibility for the automotive supply business, research and development, VAW of America and central purchasing coordination. After Norsk Hydro took over VAW in 2002, Dr. Dieter J Braun chaired the management of Hydro Aluminum Deutschland GmbH (HAD) and Norsk Hydro Deutschland Verwaltungsgesellschaft GmbH (NHDV). At the same time, he was responsible for the global automotive supply business in the management of Hydro Aluminum AS in Oslo. After retiring from these functions on May 31, 2006, Dr. Dieter J. Braun to the supervisory board of the German hydro companies HAD and NHDV. He held these positions until 2013. In October 2009 he took over the chairmanship of the supervisory board of Smetan Engineering GmbH. In 2011 he became a member of the Supervisory Board of Hydro Aluminum Rolled Products GmbH. He held both positions until 2013.

Nabaltec AG is a Germany-based company that develops, manufactures and distributes functional fillers for the plastics industry and raw materials for technical ceramics. The Functional Fillers segment develops, produces and distributes halogen-free, flame retardant fillers on the basis of aluminum hydroxide und the APYRAL trade name, as well as on the basis of magnesium hydroxide, under the APYMAG brand.
