Surge Biswas

Co-Founder & CEO at Nabla Bio

Surge Biswas is the Co-Founder & CEO at Nabla Bio. Surge was previously a Graduate Student at George Church Lab where they worked on machine learning guided protein design. Prior to that, they were a Scientist at Phil Wigge Lab where they studied how plants sense temperature at the molecular level, and how to make crops more resilient to climate change. Before that, they were a Scientist at Vladimir Jojic Group where they developed machine learning tools to infer microbial abundances and interactions in metagenomic datasets. Surge also spent time as a Scientist at Jeff Dangl Lab where they designed agricultural probiotics by using machine learning to find rare combinations of bacteria that would help plants ward off infection and be robust to nutritional stress.

Surge Biswas has a PhD in Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics from Harvard University. Surge also has a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Plant Sciences from the University of Cambridge. And they have a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematical Decision Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
