Juan A. holds a PhD in Operations Research, Astronautics, Systems Engineering, and Applied Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University, completed in 2007, and a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering with a focus on Materials Science from Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México, obtained in 2002.
