Paulus Schoutsen

Paulus Schoutsen has a diverse and impressive work experience. Paulus is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Nabu Casa since September 2018. Prior to this, they founded and led the development of Home Assistant, an open-source home automation platform, since September 2013.

Paulus has also held various software engineering roles, including Senior Software Engineer at Ubiquiti Networks from April 2018 to April 2019, Senior Software Engineer at AppFolio Inc. from October 2015 to April 2018, and Software Engineer at AppFolio Inc. from October 2014 to October 2015. At AppFolio, they were involved in designing and building new features, developing APIs, and ensuring code quality through testing.

Furthermore, they co-founded a non-profit foundation called "1 euro per dag" in 2012, where they were responsible for the technical implementation and successfully collected over €15. Paulus also worked as an ETL developer at the San Diego Supercomputer Center from January 2012 to July 2014, where they contributed to the development of a Medicaid and Medicare fraud detection solution by improving the ETL process.

In addition, Paulus co-founded Schoutsen de Kock V.O.F., a two-person company, where they were responsible for development and finances. Paulus developed a web application to create virtual tours using various technologies and an Android application to track drinking behavior.

Before that, they worked as a Development Lead at the University of Twente from September 2006 to December 2011. In this role, they led a team of developers and designers to build an online learning environment for high school students.

Lastly, Paulus worked as an IT Consultant at Dutch Open Government Data project at Microsoft from May 2010 to February 2011, where they contributed to the technical aspects of the project by developing a mobile application and various features.

Paulus Schoutsen has a Master of Science degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Business Intelligence (BI) from the University of Twente, which they obtained from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with the same specialization from the same university, from 2004 to 2010. Additionally, they obtained a certification in PowerCenter 9.x Level 1 Developer from Informatica University in 2012.
