Kris Defrain

Kris DeFrain has substantial work experience in the insurance industry, specifically in actuarial roles. They started their career as an Actuarial Assistant at American National Insurance in 1987 and went on to work for State Farm Insurance as a P&C Actuary from 1990 to 1997. In 1997, DeFrain joined Universal Underwriters Group as an Actuary and later transitioned to RLI Insurance Company in the same role from 2000 to 2002. They then joined the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) as the Director of Research and Actuarial in 2003. In 2009, DeFrain took on the position of Vice President - International at the Casualty Actuarial Society, serving until 2012. They also became a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries in 1997 and a Board Member of the Casualty Actuarial Society in 2020.

Kris DeFrain began their education journey at Warrensburg High School, from 1981 to 1985. After completing high school, they attended Missouri State University from 1985 to 1988. Following their time at Missouri State University, Kris DeFrain transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1988, where they studied Business, specifically Actuarial Science, until 1989. No degree was mentioned for either Missouri State University or the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
