Ruth-Ann Huvane is an At-Large Board member on NAMI’s National Board of Directors, effective April 1, 2023. Ruth-Ann came to NAMI after losing her brother-in-law to suicide in 2022 which is an organization he loved. As a sibling to a brother living with bipolar disorder, she is focused on becoming an advocate for individuals and their families who support a loved one living with a mental health illness. Ruth-Ann is interested in raising awareness for youth and young adults in high school and college, family-to-family support groups, and research efforts relating to men and mental health issues.
With over 25 years in the entertainment industry, as a former talent agent at Creative Artists Agency and former Senior Vice President of Talent at Columbia-Tristar/Sony Television, Ruth-Ann also brings 30+ years of non-profit Board experience.
Ruth-Ann’s non-profit board experience includes different roles; serving as a member of the Wilshire House Association Board of Directors serving as Secretary of the Board and Chair of the HR Committee; former Vice Chair and member of the Executive Committee of the Children’s Defense Fund’s National Board of Trustees; Co-Chair of the annual Children’s Defense Fund-California Beat the Odds Gala, former Board member of the Los Angeles Zoo Association, the Beverly Hills Little League Association and a member of the Advisory Board of Common Sense Media. Ruth-Ann is a current member of NAMI in West Los Angeles, California.
Ruth-Ann will serve on the NAMI Board of Directors for the remainder of the 2022-2023 term, as well as for the 2023-2024 Board year.
