Jess Speir

Jess Speir has a diverse work experience, starting with a role as a Lab Technician Intern at BASF from May 2009 to August 2010. They then worked as a Polyurethane Chemist at BASF from May 2011 to February 2012. In 2012, Jess took some time off to backpack through South America and Europe before joining Wylie Systems as a Senior Programmer from August 2012 to August 2014.

Afterwards, Jess joined Carleton University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant from September 2013 to April 2015. They then transitioned into the tech industry, starting as a Software Developer at Nanometrics Inc in October 2015. Jess worked in this role until December 2019 when they were promoted to Team Lead, Cloud Software. They held this position until May 2021 when they were promoted again to Manager, Cloud Software Development and Operations. Currently, Jess is working as a Senior Cloud Solutions Specialist at Nanometrics Inc, starting in May 2023.

Jess Speir completed their Master of Computer Science (MCS) degree in Human Computer Interaction from Carleton University, from the year 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Chemistry and Computer Science from Western University, beginning in the year 2006 and completing it in 2011. Their high school education was obtained from the International School of Berne between 2000 and 2004. In addition to their academic qualifications, Jess Speir obtained a certification as a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from Scrum Alliance in November 2018.
