Tumi Snær Gíslason

Tumi Snær Gíslason has a diverse work experience spanning from 2005 to the present. Starting with various part-time jobs during their teens and university years, Tumi gained valuable work ethics and lessons. In 2014, they worked as a software developer at the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages, where they collaborated with a group to create a web app. They also worked as a teaching assistant at Háskóli Íslands that same year. From 2015 to 2016, Tumi took on the role of a software developer at Prógramm ehf, working as a contractor for several large government agencies in Iceland. At Rapyd from 2016 to 2018, Tumi was a software developer and part of the core backend team responsible for developing custom in-house solutions. From 2018 to 2021, Tumi worked at Gangverk as a software engineer, focusing on backend development and core services for a critical auction platform. Their responsibilities included participating in weekly discipline meetings and ensuring consolidated methodologies. From 2021 to 2022, Tumi served as a senior software engineer at Smitten, contributing to the development of a global dating app. Their work included feature development, bug fixing, optimizing data storage and fetching, and managing deployment pipelines and monitoring solutions. They also participated in an on-call rotation and incident management. Currently, Tumi holds the position of a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Nansen, starting in 2022.

Tumi Snær Gíslason obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Háskóli Íslands, which they pursued from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they attended Verzlunarskóli Íslands from 2007 to 2011, where they completed their college education. In terms of additional certifications, Tumi obtained an Incident Responder Certification from PagerDuty in January 2023.
